Staff Pick of the Week

Josh Kelley
Special Company Josh Kelley - Special Company

As “Staff Pick’s” go, selecting Josh Kelley’s latest album was a no-brainer – I’ve been a big fan of Kelley’s since I picked up his 2005 album, “Almost Honest”. I was eager to see if the variety that I’ve come to appreciate from Kelley would be present on his album, “Special Company”. I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I have been listening to it over and over without burnout, which I credit that to the fact that each song is different in vibe and style. Kelley has created a fabulous 14-track album with surprises around every corner.

Kelley’s album was released shortly after his wedding to Grey’s Anatomy actress Katherine Heigl (the namesake for the song “Hey Katie”) and it’s clear that these songs were written by a man in love. Listening to “Two Cups of Coffee”, “Tidal Wave”, “Special Company” and “Stay Awake” will remind you of the early years of love when your thoughts where consumed by the man of your dreams. (Oh, we know he’s still in there…don’t be surprised if a few of these songs bring him back to the top of your list.)

Note – “Justice” is a great song, but if you’ve got kiddos in earshot and you’d prefer to keep things “G” rated, skip over this one while their around to avoid the “s-bomb”.
